What do you need when you organize a homegame?
In this article we will cover all the essentials for organizing your own home game. Under a home game we mean a cozy poker evening with friends at home. We won't focus specifically on organizing a poker tournament.Â
1. A poker table
The most important thing of course is your poker table. A poker table still gives you the feeling of playing cards in a professional setting. Your friends also find playing poker at a real poker table much more fun than at the regular poker table. Don't have a poker table or don't want to spend that much money on a poker table? Then you can also choose to turn your dining table into a poker table by putting a rubber poker mat on it.

2. Poker chips
Poker chips may not be missing of course. Or do you want to keep track of the points with nuts? That's possible too, but it's not very handy. For your own home game, a suitcase with 500 poker chips is more than sufficient. If you're playing with a small group of people, 300 chips will do just fine. Want cheap poker chips? Then we recommend a poker set with dice poker chips. The disadvantage, however, is that there is no value on the chips. You have to make up your own value. We find it more convenient to play with poker chips which do have a value on them. They are not that much more expensive.Â

3. Poker cards
Poker cards are essential to your home game. Think you can get by with a normal pack of cards that you also use in other card games? Then you will be deceived. Normal cardboard cards are easy to bend and easy to mark. I don't expect your friends to cheat by marking the cards, but a damaged card is easily recognized and if the damage is there, everyone can recognize the card. Plastic poker cards are 100% plastic and do not bend. They are also a lot harder to mark.Â

4. Dealer button
The last essential thing you need when playing poker is a dealer button. If you don't have a dealer button, you'll constantly forget who dealt and who has to deal in the next pot. A dealer button moves one player to the side after every turn.Â
